YouTube Studio Series” Article 2 of 7: Analytics “Advanced Mode” in YouTube Studio

In YouTube Studios, click on the Analytics page. You can then
click on “Advanced Mode” at the top right or click “See More”
at the bottom of any section.

This view will give you more options for obtaining information
about your videos and channel. You can always click the “escape”
key or click the “X” at the top right to leave “Advanced Mode.”

In the top right-hand corner, you can change the date range you
want to look at: from 7 days all the way up to 365 and even
the lifetime of the video.

You can also use the search bar to look at analytics for a
specific video, playlist, or group.

Groups let you understand and analyze segments of your
content. They can help you identify trends for specific types
of videos you make.

For example, you can compare how one topic performs compared
to another topic or compare shorter videos to longer ones.

To create a group, click on your channel name at the top.

Then select “groups” from the drop-down menu. All of your
previously created groups are automatically saved and show up
first in the list.

Click “create new group” at the bottom of the menu. This will
bring up a screen that lets you enter a group name (like
“10 Minute Videos” or “Cooking Videos”).

Then, select the videos you want to add to that group by
clicking the box next to each video you want. Once you have
everything you want for that group, click “Save” at the
bottom right.

There are many other ways to filter your data with Advanced
Mode.

Click on the “Filter” bar to see a drop-down menu with
choices like “Device Type,” “Geography,” “Operating System,”
“Subscription Status,” Traffic Source,” “Translation Use,”
and more.

The top row allows you to choose a dimension to break down
your data in a different way.

For example, clicking on “Video Views” will bring up a
menu with “Watch Time,” “Subscribers,” “Impressions,”
“Impressions Click-Through Rate,” and “More Metrics.”

You even have a “Select Secondary Metric” menu, which
allows you to choose from the same menu and compare two
metrics on the same graph.

Remember that you can also hover over any part of that
chart for more details. You can also change the chart
type from bar to line and back again, and switch between
daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly views.

The table below the chart gives you a further breakdown
of your data.

You can check the box next to individual data topics
to change what you’re looking at in the chart. Each item
checked will then have a corresponding line or bar in the
chart.

You can also add a metric to the table by clicking the
“+” sign at the top of the menu. You can add metrics like
“Average View Duration,” “Likes vs Dislikes,” information
about end screens and cards, and more. To remove an item
from your menu, click the three dots (next to the “+”) and
choose “Delete.”

You can select “Compare Two” to compare two items. This is
really useful if you’re trying to see how your channel
performs year after year, or to see how your latest videos
compare against one another.

Finally, you can export your data. You can view up to 50
rows of data in YouTube Studio. To get up to 500 rows, just
click “Export Data” to download a report of the data you’re
looking at.
